are either small date? 1st coin are the first 4 pics below.2nd coin is final picture. Sorry for format!
@Arizwak What I can't understand is why it would matter if it was a large or small date when the first coin is in such terrible condition. Chris
But I don’t understand very much..that’s why I’m hoping some of you people who are experienced with this type of thing can help a noob out with some basics.
As to your coins they are both large date coins and quite sure the first one is zinc. The 1982-D small date cent is only valuable because it is make of copper and would look like a corroded zinc cent. A coins rarity can outweigh it's condition for value.
No. Let's try this again. There weren't supposed to be any 1982D small date copper cents made. Only a few have ever been found. They were accidentally made from possibly a few copper planchettes left over in containers used to transport them. Stop watching YouTube videos!
I've CRH'd several rolls of 1982 Lincoln's that I've put aside. What should I be searching for: both 1982 and 1982D small dates? Thank you.
None of the 1982's are worth anything. The 1982 small date Philly in zinc, and the 1982 small date Philly in copper has value only in the highest grades. It would be very rare to find a mint state coin from 35+ years ago in a circulated roll. They made 17 billion cents in 1982, they made so many that it surprises me they are even worth 1 cent. Denver ONLY made the small date in zinc. And so, if you were to find a 1982, Denver, small date in COPPER, then that would be a valuable coin. 2 have been discovered. You could spend 31 1/2 years looking through a billion coins, 1 every second 24 hours a day 7 days a week and not find the super rare coin. I hope that helps. (31 1/2 years = 1 billion seconds)
@Brina ...8 bus. strikes, 1 proof for 1982: large and small date Philly copper and zinc, large and small date Denver copper and zinc. 1982-S proof ( you will have to weigh them, the Denver copper small date is the one that is rarest with, I think, only 2 found so far) @Arizwak ...you should be able to identify the difference for yourself by now, you have been given the info and tools. Regarding YouTube...it is a website where anyone can post information and get paid for clicks. The problem is there is no effort made to ensure the info is accurate, or they make shocking statements designed to make you click, but winds up being faulty by omission. You can waste a lot of time there...JMHO...Spark
You can't really count the small date copper Denver 1982. There's 7 varieties Large date Philly copper, large date Philly zinc. Small date Philly copper, small date Philly zinc. Large date Denver copper, large date Denver zinc. Small date Denver zinc. The 8th would be the 1982-S large date proof cent. The 9th, there are only 2 known 1982 SD, Denver copper.
