This coin is weird for sure, I went back and forth to post or not. The thing I can't answer is if it was PMD how could the E R and top of the T still be perfectly intact? Also something around the rim,and the reverse. Thoughts are appreciated!
You should always post this stuff. Many of us do like to see them even if the indications are suspect.
Some of the spots are little suspect, but ol' Washington and Mr. Fish have seen better days. Anything could have happened to that coin. I am though curious in knowing what happened to LIBERTY assuming it isn't a stain or raised/stained.
Tycobb it is recuse,and very much so. Islander your top circle is a blob the coin has nothing there,your bottom circle is from me wiping the coin with a toothpick to clear some of the gunk.
I see your wiping marks with the toothpick. That my friend, is a very very "BAD" thing! Try wiping/cleaning it (and we don't like using the words wiping and cleaning around here very much) with acetone. Put the coin in (submerged) acetone and "gently very gently" wipe or rub the coin with a Q-Tip "also" submerged in the acetone (again, very gently). Although, it's not terribly critical because it's not a high value coin. Just get in a good habit. No more toothpick!.....right? I'm talking about these two spots...
If you must use a cotton swab, dab it gently; don't rub or wipe. If it was meant to come off, it'll come off on its own or with very light dabbing. I've gotten lazy and have come to the mindset that if I need to acetone a coin and I think my time is worth more, I just throw the coin in the bucket for rolling.
