That was a good idea! It may have been an error at one time, but now it's just a corroded Lincoln memorial cent, but you can probably still use it as a cent. Appears pre-zinc, but that doesn't help it any. That's all the info I can give you.
The outline on the obverse appears a little too sharp for me to think it's a struck-thru grease coin, but I can't rule that out. @paddyman98 @Fred Weinberg @JCro57 @furryfrog02 @Rick Stachowski thoughts?
I think it is a Struck Through Debris coin. Mostly because of the sharp inner rim line and a complete rim. And pretty sure it is post 1968.
Just looked at it with a magnifying glass and I believe it to be 1996. My first thought was 1986 but at different rotations and angles think it's 1996. 99% 19_6 though
That makes it post 1982. I still think it is STD, dryer coins are usually rolled over on the edge. JMO.
