Hello all, I was wondering if you fine folks can take me to school on dimes. I have a hard time trying to define. What is a FB and Torch. I put a few images up. So you can help me out. Now the images I put up. To me, I believe are FB and TORCH. Any info would be apreciated. Thank you in advance
I say no.. FB has to be much sharper than what you have shown us. I see a lot of circulation wear. Here ia some great information https://www.pcgs.com/news/pcgs-to-add-full-bands-designation-for-roosevelt-dimes
I agree with Mr. P. I don't collect dimes, but I don't recall any grading service that attributes "Full Torch". Does anyone else know? Chris
Thanks @paddyman98 ! Unfortunately, the video did not fully explain the "Full Torch" attribution on the NGC specimen. It only defined the horizontal & vertical bands. Based on that, the "torch" could be completely worn, but as long as the bands are present, it would receive the "FT" attribute. Chris
...and, you could have a AU coin qualify for the attribute, unlike full-step nickels that are supposed to be a minimum MS60/business strike only...Spark
Here's one explanation: https://rooseveltdimes.net/full-torch-or-full-bands-roosevelt-dime/ This site also includes the FB Mercury dime: https://coinweek.com/us-coins/modern-dime-designations-what-are-full-bands-and-full-torch/
I think NGC uses FT (full torch) and PCGS uses FB (full bands) with both designations meaning the same thing.
You can see what NGC requires for the FT designation on this site: https://rooseveltdimes.net/full-torch-or-full-bands-roosevelt-dime/
