Does anyone think that the mint will reprice the newest first spouse? I am interested in buying one proof but would get really mad if they repriced it after I bought it.

Unlikely they would do it based on what you just stated.

I do not ever remember the mint lowering the price on a current issue item. Especially bullion. They have lowered the price on "clearance" items before, from many years old merchandise. But with the first spouse gold coins I would be VERY surprised to see the mint lower the price.

Ditto what Wesley said - plus one of their cs reps told me that as long as he has been working there, which was about 5 years, he has never seen them lower the prices on coins made out of precious metals. The only thing he ever saw lowered were non silver and gold items. Joe

Thanks, I guess I was just worried that if the price of gold drops say another $100 in the next month or so they would have to re-price.

Like I said before, I do not think you will have to worry about the mint re-pricing the Elizabeth Monroe First Spouse coins. The Dolley Madison's are still available at their issue price and not a sellout. My point is the mint didn't raise the price on them. From what I hear less than half of the Monroe's have sold, so it may be a key coin if you are into collecting the whole set. The mint can always melt unsold coins to make the new ones, but that is unlikely. It will be interesting to see what the next First Spouse coins are priced at later this month. Gold has been creeping back up the last week or two, so it may be headed higher again after a brief selloff.

you are more likely to have your taxes lowered than mint pricing!!!!

I haven't seen anyone selling them at melt or close to it. So few have sold, that they are selling for a premium over melt.

These are selling for what the mint is charging or more, and the majority are already graded. I personally like my bullion coins raw, and would not pay to have my coins graded.
