Thought I'd start this thread and invite anyone to share their war nickel collect.
Maybe share a good War Nickel story.

When I first learned of the War Nickel I had to have a set and found this first one for about 8 bucks. I soon desired a BU set and was able to acquire the next one for about 5 buck a piece. I'd like to acquire a BU set with all full steps one day.

walterallen, good looking set in the Capital(?) holder. They all appear Unc.

mark_h, also a nice set. I particularly like the holder. Certainly WWII design if not WWII vintage.

Bonedigger, nice group. Fingerprint on the obverse of the '43-P. A little acetone might help there.

I've been working on a complete war nickel set with Full Steps.
    Only missing one now.
The 1945-S (no surprise there; that's the key for FS.)
They range in grade from MS-64 to MS-66, but some (if not most) are only 5 or 5.5 steps.
I'm not sure if I have one with a full 6 steps.
The TPGs start using the FS label at 5 steps.
I'd put the pics up, but that would be 10 separate ones.
    Too many.

    rotobeast, interesting.
I think nickels, even the silver ones are unusual with rainbow toning.
Mostly you get the golden tone like on some of walterallen's.

Good luck on the 45S. I can settle for 5 full steps to have a better then nice example.

Thanks for the complement kanga, They are indeed uncirculated. They are just not quite as nice as I'd like to have. A couple of mine are 5 full steppers, one is exceptional, clearly the reason Id' like to have a complete set of the same condition. One day for sure, after getting a decent 45S of course.

    Thanks

These were the last two I aquired. I need 4 more to complete an UNC set.

I really love the colors in this toner you have. NT for sure.

Good luck on completing your set. Looks like you have your 45S under control...nice.

    Thanks !
That was the reason I bought her.
Well, that and the lamanation action on the reverse that makes it look like a lightning bolt is hitting the Monticello.

Great looking war nickles, guys. Here's mine, the pictures turned out a bit dark. The coin in hand is a brilliant white. 1945 S reverse doubled die.

Very nice coin. How about put a price on it? What would it cost to obtain one as nice as yours?

    Thanks!

Allen, I have no idea what the price would be for this coin. I cherry picked this coin from a dealer and it cost me $1.50 . Maybe one of the other members can answer that for us.

I would say you got more then your moneys worth. I like hearing about deals like that. Would you take $20 for it or would the demand for errors and varieties drive this sky high?

Another toning beauty. I'll bet the color is much better in hand..right? Steps look full as well. Very nice coin.
    Thanks for sharing this one.

I never feel like I do these justice when I shot them :( Still missing the 45S - Trying to find a nice one at a reasonable cost.
