OP.... You mention several times 1909-S. I assume you realize that is half the story. It also has the designers initials on the reverse, or VDB. The addition of those initials would make your cent the most desirable cent in the entire Lincoln series. Hence the reason you are hearing so much doubt and concern. If genuine, you have quite a valuable cent. It does merit a closer inspection before anyone will comment on the value.

If your area has a local coin shop, have somebody look at it. Nicely toned cent. I don't see any evidence of fire damage though.

John. We're happy for you. But this coin is so rare. We really need better pictures. I have a 1909 that i swear is a proof. In hand. But don't have any photo skills. To poor to send in to know for sure. Has the liberty but not the nose markings. It's atleast Ms high but I gave it away. Doesn't bother me that I'll never know. Cointalk members say no. Dollar and a dream. Mamma left it in my care. Left it in my crawl space with xmas decorations. Her whole 50+ years collection. Thats why i give my finds away.
Cuz i did have the best Mamma ever. Everyone!!!! When you are gifted a collection. Look at the gifter. Not just the coins. Feel the love and years that were put into this gift. Its like sewing a quilt. It's not like pulling a 100 out of your purse. It's sewing for 6 months cuz we love our cubbies

John posted this last Monday and left the thread. I still want to know how he knows it's real.

Yes they do. It is the most frequent error made by counterfeiters.

You mean just adjacent to it, not on it? I think I do see that in these pictures.

Why are you on here? You predetermined it's an SVDB with fire damage and you want to know if it's worth getting certified for that? Well, yeah. If I owned it, I think I'd get it certified, fire damage notwithstanding.

You are doing a great job of that. Ignoring the questions, makes me think the coin is fake. I'm almost sure it is.

I don’t know, dear. I imagine not. I believe the event occurs the last day of the month.

The man wants answers, not an interrogation.. Why should he answer questions about his coin, on his thread ??? He will not be pressured into making everyone here happy by answering questions. So there. o_O

    Just wow.

I'm just glad @John baker has a 1909 to show us. John your fire damage just might be toning. Its a fine coin worth grading. 30 bucks to find out if its real. I say yes. Good luck. Have a shot before cointalking. Will take the edge off
