My pleasure. Are the papal states your specialty? I use a free photo editing software that I downloaded (www.photoscape.org). I know there are dozens of these apps out there, but this one was fairly straight forward to figure out. The features you will use most are on the editor tab (cropping, resizing, color balance) and the combine tab (combining 2 images together.
I just started collecting medallions from the early modern period, and the Papal medallions, especially the work of the Hamerani family, are what first attracted me. I plan on branching out to the secular as well.
The Hamerani family produced quite a dynasty of engravers. It was the inspiration for a set I started on NGC (https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/wcm/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=16514). The late 1600s issues are the sweet spot. I have yet to get into the medals.
It just makes sense that the coins would be beautiful as well. That is a great set! I like the medallions because their size allows the artist more room to display their skills.
