Less than 25 collectable of this coin, the first collectible A.D. dated coin. Different vestments and the positioning of the orb in Charlemagne's hand. The date is 1374, in Roman numerals. I just thought this thread needed a Medieval posting.
I have a few more special ones: the monitor token in white metal is rare. there are very few 1876 P type 2/2 trade dollars, maybe a couple of dozen? I love the toning on the 2 commems. the Conder just makes me smile.
I love that classic Texas commemorative half design ... even to the irony of the angel "protecting" the Alamo where a couple of hundred Texan defenders (Texians) died and around 600 Mexican attackers. I like them especially with beautiful toning! Kind regards, George
First Bust Half dollar, nice Arrows and Rays quarter dollar, and a cherry picked 2-feather Buffalo nickel.
A trio of Early Dated Gold The first and third pieces are relatively common, the first fewer than 11 collectable pieces, the third less than 21 collectable pieces. The second piece has less than 4 collectable pieces. The first and second are different with the orientation of the trefoil. The rare piece is one of my favorites. These gold guldens with the date 1436 in Roman numerals are the first Anno Domini dated gold coins.
I'm posting another coin largely to bring this post back to the front page in the hopes that more coins are posted. In the meanwhile, this is an MS67.
Tell us how you have come to enjoy her company. I think a Sheldon number would be nice. She has a way of keeping your attention .
I barely know her. We have just been introduced!.... Couldn’t tell you the Sheldon number. She is 1794 with head of 1794 and lettered edge. When I am done staring, I’ll do some more research.
Most of these coins are not necessarily my most expensive, none are the rarest coin in my collection....but they are the ones I love the most at the moment and wouldn't sell under any circumstances. #1 This Babylonian Tet was my first ancient coin. So it means a lot to me. #2 This lifetime Denarius of Julius Caesar is in fact my most expensive coin, but that's not why I love it so much. It is a prized coin because of my love for the history of this time period and Caesar's crucial role in dismantling the Republic. #3 One look at this Istros drachm should be enough to tell you why I love it so much. #4 Everyone needs an Athenian Owl....enough said. #5 Zeno was the last Eastern Roman Emperor to rule with a co-emperor in the west. #6 The toning on this Marc Anthony Denarius and the strong details make this one special coin for me. That's about it. Any other coin in my collection may be sold or traded at any time to upgrade to something else, or if I ever have an emergency...but these coins are protected from that for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
