Note spotting at 11:30 , more evident in pic 2 without flash filter. Perhaps the reason for previous cleaning? obverse cleaned before purchase , reverse retains some luster... Should i dip this coin, what do you suggest? thanks, ozarktravler
I'd leave it just as it is. As long as a coin isnt crusted with dirt or corrosion I'm strongly against cleaning a coin, any coin.
Since the previous cleaning removed any collectible value from the coin, a dipping could not hurt the value anymore! Frank
I'd say the coin already was dipped, and for to long ,it also looks polished. I think the reason most are against dipping is because if not done right it will chage the surface of the coin,if done right you shouldn,t even notice it has been cleaned. Also you shouldn't dip a coin unless the toning is ugly and detracts from the coin .This is my opinion only.Any thought wanted.
Having a coin simply laying in your hand will not reduce the value of the coins. I highly doubt you has 3 pounds of 5w-30 in his skin.
