Back Again. I posted a couple pics of a 2000 Close AM. Early yesterday after it was Determined that Initials were Right. Now I Have Picked the 97 and 98 and they both could possibly be Wide according to Designers initials and distance from memorial. From Top to bottom 2 each pics of each beginning with 98 .
Wait, what? You use the designers initials to determine WAM or CAM? Why not just look at the spacing between the A and M? So if the A and the M are touching, but the initials tell you that, that is WAM, You believe that over what the A and the M do?
When the Letters are to Close to call, Go to Initiials. Letters being worn or Overpolished can give false impressio . Wide AM sits Closer to Memorial. Which Doesnt Always help Decide Also the spacing in letters After AM.There are Cases of Being In the Wrong Place or. The 2 different Letter Styles getting mixed up. Doesnt Make the Coin what it Isnt its a Different type of Error all in itself.
Thanks . I do have a Question When you get an extra minute. Thats if you dont mind a Quick lesson. The 00 without a doubt is Close with the FG off to Right The 99 , next one Actually has bubbling on right Leg of A and the FG sits in a Wide AM position. Closer to Memorial than the 2000. Then the 98. If you Expand a Little you can see the AM dont touch the line that connects the Letters ( whatever It is) runs from Middle of the A Leg to Corner of M. Then the FG is Just above 1st step down like the 99. Not Arguing or Questioning your judgement. Just want to see what im Missing. Thank you.
What confuses me is that you posted six different photos, supposedly of three different dates, and I don't know which is which. Chris
This is a great go-to article to freshen up on the CAM/WAM specifics, useful to many. For clarity, however, the location of the designers initials is used as a supporting device for the spacing found with the letters. So, if you have wide letter spacing the initials should be close to the memorial base, lending corroboration. Likewise for the CAM, the initials would be farther away. The letter spacing is the primary focus, not the other way around. A minor distance change of the initials closer or farther will not mean much. A major distance change would be significant, but I am not aware of anything extant along these parameters. If you find one, please post it for us to share here on CT...Spark btw, thanks for that link.
So let me get this straight. If these "experts" are right, you just showed us three reverse dies from three successive years that make them look like idiots. So, either I'm right, they're idiots, or they're right, and now there's a rare coincidence times three years in a row! Why don't you email one of these idiots and show them this. Get back to us on what they tell you, we'll be here. I can't wait to hear it. Meantime, we got good eyesight, these are CAMs, regardless what they say.
Correct Spark1957. I want Sure about the 98 and 99. The right leg of A had.bubbles on it in the area where letters would join the other doesnt Touch, That's when I went to Initials and came here. Eddiespin close. The 2000 is the only one that matched up it Clearly touches and Distance is farther away. The other 2 had to either be wrong on Distance or WAM. A message does sound good. Im screwed up enough withour any help. Lol
That's the spirit. Challenge them. Dead things go with the currents because... well... for one... they're dead, they can't fight back. Ah, see what you did, now, you got me all philosophical...
You're right and Dead things Stink. I'm in my sixties started playing this game. Six months ago. I pretty much figured out at my age if you learn something you have to figure out what other piece of useless knowledge you're going to throw away. The worst part of all that is I can't remember what I threw out. Oh and I just picked up a 2000 initials are in the exact places the other one.i have.
