But it is a neat item. Meow felt good just having it in paw. One more item for the Cat hoard, but this one is for display and not stashed.

Now @MeowtheKitty here you go applying logic to emotional situations again. Silly kitty...

Agree it's a good add to the hoard - regardless of whether it has $2 or $500 inside, it will successfully act as a paperweight and keep several other items from running away.

You now need a Morgan Dollar, Peace Dollar, Franklin and Kennedy halves encased in acrylic - all of these are available with a little search. Then you can claim it's a purposeful collection, not a hoarder special :)...

PS: Series 1969D were printed in 1973/1974, before they started series 1974 in July (http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f1974_s.html)

Oh, they printed 1969 bills in 1973/74???? That does not make sense, why do they do that?
So if so, $500 in 1973/74 would have the value of something closer to todays $3000 then.
In the coin version do they have a fake encased roll of coins sandwiched between two genuine ones? Meow would figure they don't, and are just singles. But to be analogous to the dollar bill ones we are talking about, they should.

Meow is talking out of his back paw. The series number is not when the note is printed.

The series number is changed when there is a "major" design change to the note.

The letter is changed to reflect a change in the combination of the Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer of the United States.

    Tables: http://www.uspapermoney.info/general/chron_s.html

Series 1969 was a major change, issued in May 1969 with
Elston (U.S. Treasurer) / Kennedy (Secretary of the Treasury).

When Dorothy Andrews Elston married while in office, she changed her signature and that created 1969A.

1969D were under Bañuelos / Shultz, printed from 6/72-5/74.

Ohhhhh, Ok. Meow has no idea. Thanks.
Or??? Should Meow argue with you and say that it is a rare discovery, and you are just jealous LOL.

Only the top and bottom bills are genuine. The rest are fake. Even the Mint isn't stupid enough to make and sell these. Are either of the two errors?

Let me think about this for a minute. I take 2 one dollar bills, about $.50 for the Lucite, I get free wrappers from my bank and create a paperweight. How much do you think it's really worth?

Of course, I'm jealous - it's a fun find. But, being owned by four cats, I'm not crazy enough to try and take it away from the cat. Just like I wouldn't DARE steal the Calico's catnip toy.

Meow has seen a US Mint Lucite incased State Quarters sets before. Meow thinks this item is much superior than that. (For example)
