First off, the Numistrust slab would give me pause. I'm not sure that would straight grade from any of the top three TPG's.

It's in plastic... it's not graded or guaranteed by any reputable service. NTC is a self-slabber (he bought some plastic, printed some labels, and rips people off).

    That coin is definitely AT.

The obverse I wasn't sure and looked NT.
The reverse I don't like and if it is AT then the whole thing is AT.

It wouldn't shock me if the coin looked nothing like this when encapsulated....at any rate not market acceptable in my opinion.

The only thing I trust less than the toning is the grade.

I started collecting Peaces about five years ago. I must have looked at hundreds of them and almost NEVER saw a toner. Now, they are here, there and everywhere. For my money, I don’t need Sherlock Holmes to explain it.

You are likely thinking of NNC and eBay seller centsles (he self slabs many coins in NNC slabs).

NTC is far from great, but they aren’t as bad as the self-slabbers.

I do agree this coin is AT.

The old NTC was usually considered near the bottom of the slab ratings (below the likes of PCI, SEGS, NCI, ACG).

It appears they are under new leadership from 2013 and at least attempted to clean up the reputation of the old slabs (at least based on the following offer on their website)

"Submit older NTC coins for grading for only $2.00/coin and receive a certificate for 1 free regular service coin grading. (One certificate per submission)."
    http://www.ntccoin.com/index.php/older-ntc-coins

Here is their about us page:
    http://www.ntccoin.com/index.php/about-us

And here is some info from Conder101:
"NTC has been around since early 2001. It was connected with a Florida coin dealership called Rare Island Coins. They are now located in New York. But it did expand into a TPG and not just a basement slabber because they did accept outside submissions. They have had four different generations of slabs. The most recent being introduced May 1, 2013."

Yes, I'm aware of NNC. I always had the impression that NTC was similar. I guess I might be wrong.... but I haven't seen a whole lot of impressive material or accurately graded coins in NTC slabs either.
