Your 1943 is actually reprocessed and the bubbles are the sign, the originals did not have those. Should be smooth like this one

Right on, so I had it backwards. I thought I read somewhere that the originals were coated with zinc so magnets in machines wouldn't detect them but they didn't coat the sides so it was useless.

 

I am not sure about why they originally coated the steel but that is another way to tell if it is reprocessed as the new plating goes onto the edges. Whereas the originals the coating was applied before the blanks were punched out of the steel sheets and so don't have plating on the edges. You have that correct.

 

The sheet of metal that the blanks were punched out of were plated on the top and bottom before they were used, so the edge was mostly the steel core showing ( thats why so many rusted there), but when reprocessed , they plated all of them in a solution so they end up with the top, bottom , and the edges ( everything ) plated.

The zinc coating was to protect the steel, which as we know, rusts easily. They just didn't know how bad a zinc coating was.
You've heard of galvanized steel? Galvanization is a form of zinc plating.
The exact mix of metals in the alloys used for plating things, varies from use to use.

Thanks! Yeah it is a proof in the Original Government Packaging! The last picture is with the light at a little different angle to show the mirror surfaces; but yeah that is totally natural toning.

Holy smokes that is nice! I have noticed I have taken a liking to the coins with the colorful toning. I dig them a lot. I even picked out all of mine to keep them separate. Lol, the things I do! I just got this penny out of a roll of wheats purchased from Amazon. Pretty good find I thought. Looks like someone has cleaned it but still nice toning.

I really like toned coins as well. Lincolns are cool. I have this 66 that has this purple toning; looks like some wine or something spilled on it, but I got it out of an aftermarket package that likely caused it.

Maybe I did, but I sure wasn't looking for an argument. I don't even like confrontation. I'm too old for that anymore. Now what I thought was that my pictures just weren't letting you all see what I was seeing but it blew way out of proportion really fast. If you you don't want to speak to me I will understand but please let this lay. I have said my apology. I'm not looking for enemies.

The best way to get past the past is to start a new thread for any new questions or photos you might have. Currently, you're still posting on your old, original thread which may continue to dredge up "dark memories from the past".
Some of us have memories like an elephant. Some of us do not. Some of us, depending on our age, may not have much memory at all. lolol
Remember, some feathers were ruffled and some feelings were hurt and some prideful people felt insulted.
