Well I know this is not a coin but thought I'd share! Always like to pick up things from the old hometown!

nice, apparently from 1929, and in great condition for a pocket piece.

Thanks for sharing...Tokens, like coins, are a historical record...and this one certainly is ....i.e. the existance of the Bank, its location AND the promotion presented on the token itself......a ten per cent gift to a new depositor back WHEN a five cent gain was phenominal...I hope you enhance your find with some of the banks 1929 newspaper ads, stories about the bank and some articles about the individual achievements of some of the bank's employees along with the opening and closing dates of the bank.

Don't know if that bank is still around but what would be fun is if there still was such a place to go there and pretend to want to open an account with the use of that coin. Naturally if you did don't let them keep it.
I found a pamphlet with prices once in my filing cabinet for a knife store that was about 40 or more years old. That store is still there so I took the pamphlet theree and asked if the prices were still good for some of the swords. Odd thing was I did it as a joke but the person in the store offered me any sword for that price if they could keep that pamphlet. Turned out the owners father never kept anything from back when the started the store. I just let him keep it.

Although I would have never recognized the building because of the roof changes but it is in fact still there and I believe still a bank. I'll have to look when I go to visit my mother this weekend.
