Check it out! I don't know if it's real or not but at a minimum it's been polished! I know, pics are a terrible reference point to identify coins. That said, bottom line is, somebody's gonna buy it, maybe it's an opportunity to learn something??! This is posted for conversation only. What do you think about it?! https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-PESOS-19...207608?hash=item3653aeeff8:g:cIgAAOSwGrZdb8Uf
Looks like it was put in jewelry mount and is very polished. A pawn shop might have a machine that could test the gold content.
Weak center S. Ex jewelry piece for sure. Probably end around $70ish dollars. I saw one the other day in a 2x2 cardboard sell for $180. (love to find that guy and sell a hand full of them at that price point)
Yes, the re-strike year, also the first gold coin I ever bought back in 2006! And no, I didn't buy it on pebay! People are buying them up like crazy on pebay and they don't even think about the spread between the premium they pay and the POG! Definitely a jewelry piece!
Way back when...I was buying coins from a place called First Coinvestors and at one time or another they would send me one of these as a "thank you". I ended up with six of them. A few years ago, my sister wanted two of them to have made into earrings. Having them put in a bezel ran her $300...
What do I think I remember when you couldn't give them away for $22 each. (and my memory of US gold goes back further. Double eagles for $60 anyone?
