Really damaged or an error?

So I have this nickel and it looks to have some metal built up on it. and on the other side there is a slight depression. Could this be from a die with a large chuck out of it? Its probably just damaged its all around beet up but i wanted to get some opinions.

Odd, why would you hole and then plug a 1960 nickel?

 

Most likely jewelry or adornment of some kind. My best guess.

Better question:
Why hole it?
If for jewelry it should have been far neater.
Perhaps an experiment, and later they needed five cents.

 

Maybe it was used for target practice?

You should keep it in case there is an ugliest nickel contest someday. Those huge pictures really bring out the ugly in that coin.

Yep its a filled hole. I took a small knife to it and I removed some of the junk easily. It was filled with lead or a soft solder.
