Like the vast majority of modern coins, they're only worth anything over face if uncirculated, and even then not much over.
Only in near perfect condition are these worth much, in less you find an error of some kind. Welcome aboard.
Just took about 20-25 circulated ones to the bank. Even uncirculated are really not worth keeping but one or two. Just my opinion.
If you want to know the real value of them go to a coin show and try selling them. Same with State quarters.
They made a lot of these and they are just quarters. The only ones with value would be a 1976-S proof coin (CLAD), and a 1976-S 40% silver coin. (Some business strikes for uncirc. sets and I think some of the 40's are proofs as well.)
Very common coins and despite any of them in BU condition they are basically worth face value. I have bought MS-66 ones that have been slabbed by NGC or PCGS for $5.00 each.
too many minted to be worth anything. The mint expected them to be hoarded by the public and collectors. The mint was left with pallet loads of these quarters.
Like any of these modern circulating coins and most of the not intended for circulation (NICF) - there is a very tiny demand from people building registry sets for the top populations of each particular coin. Below that a lot of coins that didn't make MS68 or 69 or whatever the desirable (grade is) are available at prices that don't even cover the certification costs. And millions and millions are available raw in every grade from VF to low MS.
I saw a few years ago on ebay some seller that listed about 20 of them in a lot. The person called them rare. I believe they were asking $300.00 for $5.00 worth of common quarters..
