1957 damaged nickel

    this nickel is really messed up what do you think happened with it

    Looks like Environmental Damage.. probably buried for a long period of times in sand under saltwater or brackish river water.

    It looks like it may have been caked with grime and someone used a mild acid to clean it.

    Looks like it may have been tumbled by a detectorist in a salt and vinegar solution for too long

    My barn was built in the 1920's and this looks like coins I've found in the dirt floor.

    I have a nickel that was not stamped on the face side is there any reason to keep it
