I over heard a lady today saying that she got a new five and was going to keep it because it was an error. She said it has the wrong date on in. 2006 instead of 2008.

Unfortunately, I did not have the time to go into explaining the idea of the bill series to her. I wonder how many people are saving these "errors"

Some of the "You might be interested" auctions are true winners.

    Another one:

Misprint? Looks like someone took a crayon to it.

To be fair I think the sellers honestly believe them to be errors and aren't just trying to rip somebody off. Besides nobody's bidding anyway, so even if they are trying to fool people, nobody's falling for it.

It's not even a myth, it is just ignorance about the U.S. currency.

in a related theme, I was at the drug store yesterday and the kid behind the counter is giving me my change and hands me 4 quarters and apologizes that he has no singles. I said no problem, does he have any dollar coins by chance? (I've noticed that while most every vendor will take the dollar coins without a hassle, almost none will try to give them as change when they have some in their drawers.)
Anyway, the kid says, " They don't make dollar coins anymore, sir."
I "gently" corrected him :computer: that the mint most assuredly still makes dollar coins..In fact they have a WHOLE NEW KEWL series  of presidential portraits.
The kid gave me one of those priceless combo looks of "whatever, yeah right and you are such a doofus old man" that only teenagers can generate.

Sorry to mention those nasty medal thingies here in the land of paper, but I thought you might appreciate the story :)

I thought someone posted a concise explanation of how US notes are dated. I have been looking for it, to send to a seller. I just don't feel like constructing and writing the explanation, but I suppose I may have to.

Does anyone know where the thread is ?

I sent the link explaining that the new notes are not errors to one of the sellers on ebay. Think it will do any good??

Search for posts by Numbers. The info may not all be in one post, but that guy has posted quite a bit of useful info abous US Notes.
