I haven't started a thread in a while, so here goes...

What is your worst condition, just ragged or beat-up old coin or note that you just don't know why you have it? A coin or note so ugly that you can't explain why it's even worth having, but you do?

Mine is a Series 1928 $1 United States Note. That's right, a Red Seal $1! It's a funny back too, and it's so bad... well, I'll let you judge by the scans.

What's yours? post pics if you can!

That note is in pretty rough shape...I have a small fortune in buffalo nickels (most with no dates). I got them as part of a larger set from my grandfather when he passed away, but I am seriously considering selling some of the worthless parts of my collection off to pay for some rarer coins I am missing from sets.

This one attached. But I know "why" I still own it: because I'm still trying to find out what it is. ... In fact, I think I'll make a new post here. Lots of experts around this amazing board.

I have a 1934 Bolivian note that is worn, torn and tattered. It came as part of an Ebay purchase, in a small sized note holder, so it MUST be special. Brother, some of the junk I hang on to. Mike

I have a dog tag that I got in a roll of halves that I haven't thrown away yet. Can't bring myself to attempt to recirculate it as I don't ever want to jeopordize that trust I have with the many tellers I deal with.

Give me a few years so I can sort through some stuff then get back to with a list several pages long.

An 1868 (I think) Shield Nickel. The date is so bad, it took the best guesses of three experienced numismatists to conclude. Hardly any detail left on the coin.

If you really dont know what it is, it is an 1806 British either halfpenny or penny depending on size.

This was a pendant on a necklace that my grandmother left behind when she passed. I have it because no one else in the family wanted it.

When I look at this coin it makes me want to cry.

P.S. looks like the pictures are going to be way big, but I am too lazy to start all over with this process.:goof:
