Preferred Method of Storing Individual Coins

Knowing me I'd probably screw it up... lol.

What I really want are those thick legal sized inserts you put in with photos so they don't bend and I'd rather just buy them. I found a few sellers on eBay who sell what I'm looking for, but in most cases the shipping costs double the item cost (I'm in Canada). The way some sellers calculate shipping and "handling" is a bit much sometimes. I really can't justify paying $40 shipping on a $20 item.

I've been looking for a Canadian seller, but no such luck so far.

Airtites all the way.

 

Most are in 2x2 cardboard holders in boxes and the more valuable ones are in slabs and airtites. All are stored in safes with Silica dehumidifying packs. You can't be too carefull when it comes to preserving the integrity of your coins.

What kind of custom system are you considering? One for holding 2x2s better? Using AirTite/Kointain/... holders in an album?

 

Been using 2x2s for years.
Been going with 1-1/2x1-1/2 lately on smaller coins (quarter or smaller). Saves a lot of space. Course it will take me forever to reholder everything.

I use 2x2s. For storage, I use these nifty little boxes that I buy at the dollar store. They're sturdy, not totally ugly and they hold 150 2x2's in two rows.

 

Anything interesting or of silver is stored in Intercept Shield 2x2 holders or albums. The rest are in individual Mylar flips in Intercept Shield boxes.

The notes are all in SuperSafe Mylar Holders. The individual holders are mostly in Archival 3 ring binder sleeves.

Coin envelopes!? Are they little brown guys? If they are I would keep mine in there. I posted a Silver Dollar earlier asking if it was toned, and the answer was yes.. and trust me it wasnt good toning, it looks horrible. I guess theres Sulfur in the envelopes, enough to tone your coins

 

I presume you mean you would not keep your coins in them.

 

From dprice7: FYI they make flat cinch staples sold at any online coin supply shop so that you don't have to crimp the staple. Cost about $14 for the stapler.
