Toning is a chocolate and vanilla thing to me. For the better part of my life I was a blast white fan. But then because of helping a friend out one day the lightbulb went on and I became a fan of toning. So I have been on both sides of the fence. This to me is a fair comparison - which do you like better, the chocolate or vanilla ?
Me, I like both. I love blazing red cents, but I also loved beatiful R/B and B examples too. It depends on each and every coin I guess, IMHO. Phoenix
in case you are wondering where that one ends up it goes on the alien ship i told you about but ultimately it comes to me
the vanilla isnt really a vanila it lookslike balckforest to me otheriwse i like vanilla in the coin world and choclate in real lif e
i have some cleaned silver morgans (junk) can i AT them by putting them inside a potato and sticking them in the oven? i read thats the best way to tone coins i amnot really sure how long i have to cook it though i want to see if the coin will be come green liek the one they had in th emag (numismatist)
Personally, I like circulated coins more than uncirculated and if I spend $50 on a coin, I'd prefer a circulated coin with some scarcity value than a high grade common coin. Blast white and rainbow toning don't do anything for me. I prefer a boring old even grey tone. I also have ASEs which were bought new "blast white" of course and it will be interesting to see how they look in 20 years [assuming I'm still around]. So there is probably a collector for every coin no matter what it looks like.
