I visit, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, WaMu and Citi. For the most part all of the tellers are right out of college and I think it's more of an issue of terminology than anything else. To these "kids" a roll of coins is a roll of coins whether they be OBW, plastiwrapped (yuck) or "customer rolled coins".

Godlike... how many times has the teller tried to offer you just the wraps without coins in them? :goof: That happens alot at some of these banks I visit. "Uh... no, I'm not going to buy 20 paper coin wraps for $10 "

Last 2 times I got rolls of halfs at my bank they only had 1 roll each time. First roll I figured would be all circ clads- WRONG! - out came 10 40% silvers/2 '64 90%. Second roll few weeks later produced 8 40% with the '67 being BU. Few months ago, out of 10 rolls got abt 20 40% and an awesome 58-D Franklin AU58.

No. It doesn't seem so. I guess what I meant to say was "college-aged" kids working as tellers.

Checked $10 worth of nickels today, yielding:
    1 1940 p
    1 1941 P
    1 1952 p (ex fine)
    3 bisons
I am curious about posts referring to finding proof coins in bank rolls.
I have never found one (I don't think). How did they get there in the first place ?? Is the mint mark (S) the only to recognize it if it has been in circulation ? I assume the luster would have worn away.

    Welcome to the forum.
I have found a couple of Proof half dollars, and, no, the luster (mirror finish) remains long after the value is gone.

I went to the bank and asked for 1 roll of halves and the first 2 i got out where 76s got a lil excited then the all of the rest but one were silver clad and the last was a 64 half.:hail:

I find good coins at gas stations and circle k's alot, and vending mechines.
    At a gas station here, a guy in front of me used a hadful of silve quarters, i got some back as change. couldnt get them all though :{

I got 6 rolls of cents at the bank today and ended up with a 1918, 1955D, 1956D, and a1958D. The 56 and 58 both had some mint luster left.
Some one mus have cashed in some coins they have had for a while, about 1/3 of the cents were pre 82 and many had luster left.

    2 boxes of nickels

So I searched two boxes of nickels from my local Bank of America. Usually I'll keep everything 1960 or earlier, and then 60's or 70's if they are in tiptop shape. Here's what I came up with:

    1 Buffalo Nickel (no date)
    2 Silver Jefferson Nickels (1943 P, 1945 P)

    And the following clad nickels:

    1939 P
    1940 P
    1940 D (2)
    1941 P
    1946 P
    1946 D
    1947 P
    1947 S
    1948 P (2)
    1949 P (2)
    1949 D
    1954 D (4)
    1955 D (3)
    1956 D
    1957 D (3)
    1958 D (5)
    1959 D (2)
    1961 P
    1963 P
    1964 D
    1965 P
    1970 S (3)

All in all, not bad with the Buffalo and 2 silvers clads. Not the best...but at least there was something..

I got 5 rolls of nickels from the bank today to go through. 4 of the 5 were uncirculated 2004 Peace Medal rolls. Is this unusual to get these 4 years after issue ? Are they worth saving ? Just curious... Unfortunately, roll 5 had nothing of interest.

Had to return the 10 rolls of dimes. My poor vision precluded me from reading the dates :) Wish we could buy Morgans from the bank because I can see the big stuff.
Found a penny wedged in a Kennedy roll and on two other occasions, found a Sac wedged in a Kennedy roll.

I found my first wide AM variety, a 1998. It was a good feeling, especially since I'm firmly in D territory here.
