Hello Guys. Could someone tell me why this coin has a gold coloring around it? Im fairly new to coin searching.
Some people call it tarnishing some people call it toning but basically it's just the environment changing the color.
Yes, I can. What you're referring to as the gold coloring is the original color (or close to it), the color the coin was when it was new and freshly minted. All the other colors you see are colors that have changed, gotten that way as a result of toning. And in coin collecting toning is nothing more than a euphemism for corrosion. And like all euphemisms they are used because the people using them don't like what the other word implies. So they use a euphemism to make things sound better
