So I’ve had these quarters I collected when they first came out. Almost all of them I would consider to be at least some grade of MS (sorry the glare on coin pics makes details hard to see). I heard they can be valuable but considering I was one of many that collected these at the time I can’t imagine there would be a great enough demand to be worth much. Are they worth the time/money to have graded?
You would be wasting your money having them graded unless they were MS68 or better. I'd be surprised if anyone would want to pay more than face value for your coins. Chris
Got it, I’ll put these back on the shelf then. I’m sure they’ll be worth it in another decade or so, thanks!
Pass them on to your grandchildren if and when you have any hopefully it will keep the new generations interested in coin collecting.
Let her wait and see for herself. It will be an incredible learning experience. Personally, they are actually really nice and in good shape, yes, probably MS, but just think about this: they made hundreds of millions of each Statehood Quarter Dollar and for every 5 people who collected these one at a time to put in maps there is 1 person who put away a roll of them fresh from the bank and that means that there are people who have not 1 or 2, but 40 of each and because of this demand is going to be easily satisfied for longer than most of us will be around. No demand = No value above 25 cents.
They will be not worth it in another decade. I saved all of the State Quarters and all of the ATB, Parks Quarters. I bought some blank Whitman quarter folders and they look great. Although it appears some are starting to tone. Most of them are MS. A few are AU. Almost all of them are face value. A very few of the low mintage ATB will be worth a little over face value in mint condition. These coins will not be worth grading as they produced TONS AND TONS of them. It did get people interested in the hobby, but they never know when to stop, and they have been in overkill mode for quite some time. I'm not saying spend them, but that's what they are worth. They will never be worth grading not even in 100 years.
