You received answers from a number of experienced collectors who know and understand the minting and die making processes. There are countless ways for a coin to be altered/damaged after it leaves the mint. I can't comment specically, since the pic was inappropriate for the forum, but when you have multiple knowledgeable collectors telling you it's damage and you haven't proposed a scenario on how this could happen in the minting process. I'll trust them Too bad, you'll probably end up on a lot of ignore lists. Not a great way to learn about errors and varieties on CT
@Donald Walker, I wish for your sake that you would have quit posting before your last couple of posts. You apologized and then started attacking good people. Please realize that we have young children on this forum, young boys and young girls. You could have chosen to PM some of the members instead of posting the photo for all to see. I hope you come to your senses and apologize to the forum, or realize that you've made one heck of a poor first impression, and if you do choose to stick around you'll be persona non grata. Steve
And this is the real world i did apologise, and i meant it , and your kids will grow up in a closet you can take your forum and never mind ur pissed im pissed , this is stupid i was looking just to see if anyone could read the writing on the back side of the coin, and got a bunch of crap. Thanks alot
I didn't see the pictures but ... A coin is a piece of metal. You can cut/shape out a part of the coin and use it as a stamp, or to create a reverse piece of die. It's simple and only needs someone with the determination to think through and do it. Then you can stamp away something that looks "real" with no dremel marks.
Love it, in his last post he starts an apology and ends being insulting again. I've heard of burning your bridges behind you, but he's doing it before him.
@Cheech9712 and all, don't want to get dinged by the moderators, but someone had imprinted a phallic symbol on a quarter. It wasn't suitable for our younger CTers. Steve
