I came across this quarter and thought it was odd. The D mint mark looks more like a dot or a D but it's filled in. It's definitely an error I looked up 1977 quarters and came across a video saying that in 1977 the quarters were minted in a different color rather than silver. Mine is silver colored. Im wondering if anyone thinks mine could be worth anything?

If I'm mistaken then please let me know. Sometimes it's difficult trying to follow what they are saying

I'm sorry I am just tired. Your coin is normal these youtube people keep trying to make some coins special when they are not.

The D represents Denver you have a minor grease filled die

Tizzy... I am sorry but Eric is correct. YouTube has led a lot of folks to believe they have riches in their pocket change. The mintmark is a filled mintmark. It’s cool but not uncommon. There were no other “color” coins minted in 1977. Simply is the result of toning over its 42 year life.

I watched the video because I was dying to hear someone say that a coin was minted in a different color.

He never said it and his whispery voice has now creeped me out for the remainder of the day.

It is not a grease-filled die. If it was, then the mintmark would have disappeared entirely.

Coin metal flowed into the center of the "D" when the post that forms it broke off.

Yes. I agree. Lots of folks get it backwards. Grease removes devices and die chips, add to the devices.

Really bad video! A lot of these types of videos are misleading. Many of these youtubers know nothing at all about true errors, varieties and values.

First, welcome to CT. Forget UTube as it is full of misinformation. Your quarter has a common minor die crack which caused a filled mintmark. Any color on the coin is caused by toning. No colored coins have been minted. It's worth $.25.

Help. You are killing this old man with blurry photos and now with whispered videos. Please stop. My eye sight and hearing are already poor due to age, so please don't make it worse.

While quarter roll searching I see these bad mint marks quite a bit. Probably a couple per roll. Mostly on older quarters. They just look like a blob of metal. Never considered them anything special. Still don't.

Just pulled out the last roll of quarters I searched. Here are 3 iffy mint marks I found in that roll. Just to show you this kind of damage/ error is abundant.
