Yes small date zinc was likely.
You are more likely to find a later date off metal error (1983,1989 etc. copper penny) there are a lot more of them.
Rather than a 1982-D small date copper. Where there are only 2.

Hi, I don't see a small d on this. I have a lot of 1982 with no dates. It's 1982 with small dates are worth something right and if so how much? Thanks :)

Small date Denver 1982 is the valuable coin, but there's only 2 known. The other '82s aren't worth much over face value unless in high Mint State condition.

It's the small date Denver COPPER 1982. (Only 2 known.)
As for value, they made 17 billion cents in 1982 so I am surprised that most of them are even worth 1 cent.
If you are looking for value, it is the 1982 small date Philly zinc in mint state,
or the 1982 small date Philly copper, in mint state. The other 17 billion coins are all worth .01 cent.
The Denver small and large date coins don't really have much value, but if it was in mint state it would have a little value.
It's almost impossible to find mint state 1982 pennies in circulation.

IMO the coin on the right looks like the small date.

Welcome to Coin Talk. The valuable one is the 1982 D Small date copper cent. There are plenty of 82 D Small dates but they're copper plated zinc cents worth one cent each. Here's some help to learn about them: https://coinweek.com/education/coin...-cent-provides-collectors-challenges-rewards/

My scale only rounds to nearest gram. I am planning on buying one that does 100th of a gram though.
