I wonder if there is more than one "DIP WAD". Too funny, great use of the additional description space.:D

Good catch! I reported the first, it looks like the second ones already down.

Thanks! I am preparing an article for my libertarian comrades on the risks of unregulated markets. In my seven years writing the "Internet Connections" column for the ANA, I never once mentioned eBay. I thought that things were cleaned up a bit a couple of years ago, that only certified coins could be listed, and so on, but clearly that is not true. I appreciate the education.

I were spending that sort of money it would need to be in either a PCGS or NCG slab. I know even these top tier slabs get faked, but I'd feel a lot more at ease than if I spent that much on something raw...

Not to mention that the date + Indian look screwy

The two links provided by RedRaider still work and seem to point to the same coin. Cert #'s are identical and when you plug in the numbers over at PCGS to verify the results point toward an 1877............fake slab as well?

Wait a second........links take me to a 'search' for 1877's, not any one individual coin.....never mind.

I can't tell what coins are the topic. The links don't help.

Links have been redirected, auctions of fakes removed by ebay.

"the 1877 IHCs", that's code for 1877 Indian Head Cents, more specifically, fakes are the ones without the shallow "N" reverse...

I would think a link would just come up as no longer listed.
Thanks. Good to know what IHC means.

But don't tell too many people, it's a secret code of sorts. ;)

That's how it use to be ("item number xxxxxx has been removed or no longer available"). Now you just get directed to a "similar items" search.

I don't like that... I like to KNOW the coin is removed or gone. The new 'system' seems ambiguous

There are only two dealers on eBay that I would buy raw coins from.

I buy from several; at least two of them are trustworthy members here at CT. If @TypeCoin971793 PMs me, I'll add him to my ebay favorite sellers list.

On EBay, I would only buy certified rarities, and only from a reputable dealer. There are so many counterfeit coins of good dates floating around.
