Well I got a few coins from the coin star yesterday. When I check the coin star I do it in a timely fashion I glance and take whatever I see. Because I feel weird doing it lol so I get them and glance at them in my hand and I see two blank planchets.the size of a quarter. I said yes! I hurried and put them in my wallet all happy and go lucky. Got home and looked at them thoroughly. Nope they are not! Not what a blank quarter looks like lol
I've been fooled more than once when finding those on the ground. Then I usually save them and toss them on the ground near my daughter's place; she and I have a friendly competition to see who can find the most coins on the ground. Steve
I've occasionally found small round batteries (i.e. watch battery-type) in my local Coinstar bin. I guess some people just toss any round metallic object in the same jar as their spare change?
Sure why not, don't all coin forums have novices come around that think whatever round metallic item they have is some kind of coin? I know I have seen people ask about the nickel and quarter sized button batteries.
Worse yet are the ones who find a severely mangled coin believing that it is a mint error. Chris Edited to add the word "coin".
