I am getting home from work now around 9:00PM so I have a little free time to post stuff I have picked from various auctions I will start off with... AV Quarter Stater ND 9mm. 1.46g. struck circa 65BC / one of the first coins minted in Britain. Chilchester Mint Sills Insular class 2 obv. Two fat men in a sunboat motif rev. Short tree like object/ 15 radiating branches ex: William F. Stevens coll. ABC 530 DK 134 Sills GGC (2003) 460/1 S-39A Found neat Chilchester/ West Sussex in 26.8.1998 13 known/ this coin is as struck. (not very pretty)
Oh, I love these tiny celtic gold coins! I have four, but none insular. One of them I discovered later that is indeed a fourrée. Very interesting. Well done, Panz!
Thank you, I like them a lot. There are some plated (fourree) examples in Chris Rudd's book. Chris Rudd auctions are great source for Celtic gold/ silver coinage. Their grading is very conservative EF=TPG MS
