Franklin halves and Jefferson nickels. The 1932 D/S quarters have come down in value A LOT (can be had for less than $50 each in G-F grades), so the Washington quarters is an easy album to complete.

 

I’d say it would either be Franklin halves or Roosevelt dimes if you are referring to pre-64 silver. Washington Quarters are also not a bad idea considering the values of the 32-D and 32-S have fallen quite dramatically in recent years.

 

Roosevelt Dimes. You don’t have to buy as much silver, and some people don’t like smaller coins.

 

Walking Liberty halves are also quite doable if you are interested in another pre-64 series. However, this series has quite a few pricey, but attainable coins like the 21-D or the 16/17s with the obverse mintmarks. In addition the 38-D another key date of the series has experienced a drastic drop in value akin to the 32-S and 32-D Washington quarters.

 

Completely forgot about Roosevelt dimes

 

I spent a lot of years doing Merc dimes. A few years on Franklins as I wanted quality coins. I had Jefferson Nickels and Rosie’s done in mere weeks...... Surprisingly, Peace dollars in average grades are quite doable as well.

 

Try any of those just CRH for the coins. Not really possible. Meow just tries to fill a wheat cent album as much as possible. Cats need to hunt, it is in our blood to do so.

 

Franklins and Roosevelts would definitely be the easiest. Both are commonly available in circulated grades, and there are absolutely no key date coins. Wheats have quite a few key dates, especially in the earlier decades, and Washingtons have a couple of expensive coins in the first years. Walkers would be an option if you restrict yourself to a late-date set, but what's the point of that? Jeffersons are not the easiest just because there are so many of them.

 

You can complete an album of Roosevelt Dimes just by buying junk silver dimes. You can almost do the same with Franklin Halves. There are a couple of those that do cost a little bit but they're not bank breakers. If you want to roll search you can find just about every Jefferson nickel it's up for one or two.

 

Actually, Jefferson Nickels is near impossible to complete in circulated condition, because the 1950-D was so widely hoarded its almost impossible to find in circulation. You would need to buy an uncirculated example and then fill in the rest with circulation plucks.

You're all right over the target. Right in line with my thoughts. However, I'm sitting here looking at an album that (IMO) wouldn't be much more then 63 cents to "complete." Okay, that might be a little exaggerated. I'll push it out to, no more then $10 and that is being very generous. I would say you could put a much nicer complete set together, then the one I'm looking at for less then $10. Again, all circulated.

I'll give you a little help. You gotta think back quit a few years. I'm not even sure they still make the album. Yes, it's a well known American Coin Album company. I'll post pictures here in a day or two if non of you guess the album.

 

Would the album in question happen to be an old Whitman penny album 1941 - Date?

 

My first thought was Whitman volume 2 Lincoln Cents

One of the most valued coins in my collection is this 50-D pulled from a roll. I will never forget the feeling of shock and awe the day I found it. 6/1/17 @ 10:40pm when counting a register at work.



Also agree that Jefferson’s and Franklins are the easiest. Franklins were the first album I finished and all were bought around melt price and the set looks great and well matched.
