Is this a lamination error?

Is this a lamination error on this coin? It's a 2005 Kansas "In god we rust" quarter,but I 'm not sure if this is just PMD or a Lamination error.

No, not a lamination error. It looks like a little struck thru grease. Very common on these coins. Yes, it would be an error. It happened at the mint.

 

FWIW, I have seen a lot of the SQ's with this sort of "splotches" on them when I was searching bags of different dates & states. I have never agreed that it was a "patch of grease" that caused them. I still think that these coins were the result of satin finish dies* that began to deteriorate earlier than the Mint expected. Not wanting to waste these dies sooner than expected, the Mint simply polished them and "repurposed" them for striking circulation coins.

*I think this is also one of the reasons why the Mint discontinued the Satin Finish Mint Sets.

It is a strike through grease coin. Pretty common, but Meow loves to keep good examples of them in a box marked 'Grease'. One can find ones that are ten times more affected once in a while. Here is a more extreme one Meow found.

 

I also recall seeing this in the 90s. I recall reading somewhere that it was Due to deterioration of the die finish. It was probably in one of the Numismatic periodicals but I can't remember. Sorry but I don't have a reference for verification.

I do agree with Chris that these aren't struck through grease. Just need to find the article(s) for proof

 

This could also be luster breaks?
