Any ideas? I can provide a photo of the back if necessary. I just have no idea what grade this would be.
Hard to tell from here. Probably EF to AU. Take pictures of your coins out of the cases. Take your pictures as close as possible. Show both side.
It is hard to tell from the photo. It might be an UNC coin or perhaps an AU but it has the luster of a coin that hasn't seen much circulation. The grade really doesnt matter though. 1964s are worth their silver, maybe a touch more for a nice BU coin. Melt is $6.25 at the moment - you could expect ~$5 from a dealer. Even high grade certified examples are common with a Grey Sheet MS 66 bid of $35. As for the photo - do not do what the other commenter suggested. Camera phones in general need at least a couple of inches in order to focus on a subject. You are best served backing off the coin a bit and making sure the subject is in focus before taking the picture.
Should I just sell it for melt value? It looks like higher grade ones sell for quite a bit according to ngc and pcgs
Understand that in 1974 when this half was released. Barely one year after the mans untimely demise, many folks bought and stored rolls of these. So today there are a lot of choice 1964 Kennedy halves available today. Yes yours is a nice coin and worthy of saving but not with a lot of money though.
