Hi. I have a number of proof sets like the one in the picture that were left to me by my Dad. Can anyone tell me if these have any value other than their face value?
Yeah, Chris is right. I never quite figured why but modern sets from the 1970's on seem to trade for very little over face value in most cases. My dealer has them stacked to the ceiling. I am not sure why folks don't want them. The coins are beautiful.
Go to Spruce Crafts https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/us-coin-values-guide-4162967 under sets and see the list and know what you are looking at. Original price and exceptions and sell price. Spend a couple of hours if it is worth it to you. I have found non-silver proof sets bunk. But who am I? Site is designed for beginners and drive through sellers to get a general idea about the value of dads' collections.
Hi @stacey! Proof coins are gorgeous coins! The prices as they said above are generally not that great. On the other hand, if you would like to continue in the numismatic world there are many opportunities with these sets in learning and profit. We hope you stick around and would love it if you get hooked! It is an addictive hobby!
