Looks like a lamination error mixed with feeder finger error but I'm not sure. Pretty cool looking. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will pop in soon.
Interesting! There must of been some debris attached to the Die that created both the same strike throughs. Very difficult to find 2 coins with the same issue. Thanks for sharing.
The strikethroughs are not exactly alike. Look at the base of the "E" in AMERICA and the tip of the top leaf in the first set of three to the right of the torch. I wonder which strikethrough came first? It's kinda like the "chicken or the egg" thingy. The feeder finger damage looks the same. @BigTee44 - It would help if you could post a side-by-side comparison of just the two reverse images. Chris
Yes to feeder finger damage. The other damage appears in the pics to be quite deep. Possibly metal fragments that could have moved in the chamber to create the two different variations, just a guess. Luck of the draw to catch two so similar.
They still look different to me. It's possible that the position of each coin was different under the lighting. Chris
The lighting may be throwing me off, is the anomaly at the ER raised or incuse? The lighting gives me the impression it is raised.
