Looks like 2 extra liberty's running on top of each other punched slanted sideways under LIBERTY I can actually see the 2ND liberty with the naked eye better than photo is coming out. Some photos are coming out with a line appearance that are dividing the 2 extra liberties looks like an elongated appearance The regular liberty is also thick and does show some separation in better picks but trying to show the weird liberty underneath.
It's a normal worn Cent due to circulation but it's clean and not damaged. A nice old Wheat Cent. Welcome to CT.
Here's some more pics . There is something under LIBERTY that is at a slant. Some pics will show it better right under and than some of the pics won't show right under but a slught separation and than another set of what seems like LIBERTY.
I understand what looks like the scratch. But it looks like the line is dividing what looks like 2 extra liberty's that are south of the regular liberty even with the naked eye. the line looks like a divider of the 1st extra liberty and than the top of another liberty. Also here's the reverse
It looks like a scratch because it is a scratch! There is no extra Liberty. The people who have tried to help you in the previous posts are very knowledgeable of the minting and die making process. What they are telling you is that there is no way that what you claim could have occurred at the mint. You may think you're seeing something, but it's not real. What you have is a 94 year old cent that has seen a lot of circulation that include hits and digs in the soft copper. Hope this explanation helps.
If you look above the LIBERTY, not the scratch but the raised Mint made LIBERTY, you would be looking at the field of the coin., the background if you will. I can see numerous shades of tne same color. Some are darker, very dark, light, lighter, very light and so on. You can also see several old hits, dings etc. which create an uneven field. Over time, oils from your skin in handling a coin, general circulation issues and the like affecting the field. Even the direction of light can make a difference. When you take all these items, and others I haven't mentioned, and create a larger picture you can see things that really aren't there. If I apply everything I just mentioned and look above and below the scratch and apply a little of my imagination I can see several letters that would spell Liberty. In a way it's like making a pot of soup. You have water, carrots, onions, beans, potatoes, celery, corn all of your favorite spices and of course a meat and noodles. You see each of them separately but you don't see soup until you add them all together. Our eyes combined with our mind makes us see something that's not really there. On your coin this is the case. It looks like it's there but it's not. Those letters are not raised and it would be impossible for LIBERTY to be on the coin three times. I hope this helps you understand what we are saying.
