Will the release of the 2021 peace and morgan dollars cause a chain reaction that could lead to the release of other coins such as copper wheat pennies?

I hope not. The US Mint is making too much junk now. It's all about money and short term gains for some people.

As of today, the proposal to manufacture these coins is still not a Law so we don't even know if they will be made. Numismatic organizations, clubs, magazines, etc. are requesting that people contact their Representatives and Senators to make this a Law. I would love to see this pass. IMO it's much better than most of the Commemoratives the Mint has put out since the 2001 American Buffalo set.

The US mint usually releases PM coins. Copper wheat cents would end up being more of a novelty.

And, I agree that it’s questionable whether the mint will decide to release the Morgan and Peace dollars, in place of some of their notoriously unattractive coinage.

I think the 2021 dollars law will pass. Morgans and Peace dollars being some of the most popular old coins to collect should push it through. 100 year anniversary is a big one for most anything and they did it for the Merc, SLQs and WLH. These silver dollars will be a hit. I haven't bought anything from the mint since the SLQ quarters in 2016. Will get the dollars if they make them.

As of now, HR 3757 (116th Congress) is not on the calendar of the House Committee on Financial Services

However, I can't find a list of bills to be reviewed in the markup meetings... we'll need to check back after these occur
    • Wednesday, September 18 at 10:00 AM — The full Committee will convene for a markup.

    • Thursday, September 19 at 10:00 AM — The full Committee will convene for a continuation of the September 18 markup.
