Perhaps you can tell by the pics, reverse has imprint of memorial cent, obverse having date@ top of coin. What discription would you apply to this coin? would the vaule warrant sending in for authentication/grading ? Thanks, ozarktravler
You can see the cents date above Ros's head and liberty through the dimes date. Thats a hammer job. Sorry not a rare coin. Its just someones attempt to make an 11 cents piece. lol
A close look at this rarity Thanks for looking & replies ... I'm glad didn't pay much for the lot , looks as if some-one went to a lot of time/ trouble to fake an eror. If I understand you correctly, a dime was pressed into a copper cent planchet? So I'm NOT rich, but do have a neat goofy looking conversation coin. Thanks every-one, ozarktravler
The dime was was pressed into an already struck copper cent by someone AFTER the cent left the Mint. The dime was not pressed into a cent planchet.
cloes-up pic, rare 11 cent U.S. coinage A close-up pic obverse, must have taken lots vice pressure to shove the dime so deeply ? Is this a common speciman? thanks , ozarktravler
If so, then... If so, then what to call this rarity, cent/ dime, or eleven cents? Look at the ghost of Lincoln's head in background, this jem needs to go on ebay, as one of a kind, haunted, eleven cent rarity coin. :smile hahahaha ozarktravler
If it weren't so true it would almost be funny...I can imagine someone being scammed into believing this is actually a legit coin. It's too bad more people don't know about forums like this! Education really is the key in this day and age.
