    Your coin has major circulation wear. Very common for those Buffalo Nickels.

    Drop it in a glass of white vinegar and look at it again in a week. Pieces of the date will come up.

    If one missing buffalo leg can garner thousands, why shouldn't four missing numbers garner even more? ;)

    I don't have a microscope, I actually started collecting Lincoln coin recently through rolls, seen this so I grabbed it.

    You don't have to look on the reverse to check if it is 3 legs. The obverse is very deteriorated.

    It works for me, but I like a better grade. You can see the forehead erosion fairly well in the upper photos. These were taken about 6 years ago or more, I should re-shoot them. :) Jim

    James - if you want to know what the date is you can use nic-a-date on it. Can get it from your local coin store, eBay, wherever. It will basically acid etch the front of the coin but generally it makes the date readable. On mint marked coins such as your many people would do exactly that. Nice find.
