Ugliest coin award.

Found this Kennedy in a roll and thought “That’s the ugliest coin I’ve ever seen!”

I put it under magnification and wondered if I was looking at lamination issues or if someone had beat it with the ugly stick.

I decided it was definitely the stick and tossed it into the bank box.

BUT today I read a post that showed another coin that looked a lot like this one as far as the disfigurement went. A lot like that coin and it was heralded as a lamination error.

So I present this to you for judgement.

It appears to have a film or some kind of covering on the center of the coin. I gently tried to see if I might remove it but no success.

I can’t really tell, and even if I could, I’d probably release it back into the wild to live out it’s dats.

 

Are you talking about this as lamination?

 

Looks like scotch tape

 

Acetone will take that tape right away, then you will have ugly to the bone!

 

It sure didn't happen at the Mint.

But it's still ugly! I'll nominate this and your coin for the "Ugliest US coin in the world". Maybe some one will start a contest. lol

 

I think the second coin went several rounds with the lawn mower and it didn't win

 

It's ugly but caused by tape being on the coin and it's not the ugliest I've seen.
