Alright, so some of us have done Info-acutions, and, with the exception of mine, they seemed to have gone pretty well.
So I thought, we should buy a slab, a label, and label a coin "MS-72"

as to raise awareness about MS-70 graded coins :)

    Any thoughts?

One REALLY, REALLY nice choice gem nearly uncirculated coin.

Ya never seems 'em like 'dis here one.

I had to go thru nearly a full roll of coins in my register to find this one.

Graded for you by that esteemed grading service "BENT" your finest servise in the world, their saying:
'send 'em in the afternoon' we grade higher after a liquid lunch!'

So bid on this BENT coin, you'll nearly never be sorry, until you see it.

Thanks and remember 1% of all proceeds, after ebay and paypal fees, goes directly to orphans in that economically depressed area on 57th Street and Central Park West.

Thank you and may (insert diety here) bless.

LMFAO! I love seeing all these info auctions! Keep em coming - I can only imagine the premium it might get if you list what prices MS68, 69, and 70 for that particular coin get. Then say it's a full 2 grades higher!

I dunno Magman. If you do that SGS may cry foul as they have yet to slab a 72.

what do you do if some idiot or a bunch of idiots actually do bid and say get it up too a few hundred or even thousand dollars?

Send them a link to this thread and then let them know you are going to cancel their bids. If they have an issue let them know this was an info listing and that if they really believe the coin is worth what they are bidding you will allow them to keep the bid, but it's as is with no refunds.

Sell it and list a bunch more PRONTO!

    Seriously,

    MNcollector has the solution.

I have to admit it would be tempting! It might defeat the point of an info listing though - lol...

and this furthers the discourse on coins how? stupid me thought this forum was for the discussion of coins and coin collecting, not how to manipulate eBay auctions. grow up already. you are not God's gift to coin collectors and you are certainly not going to stop the scumbags. if you ignore them, they are not a threat to you. if they take Grandma's money, well, she deserves it since she is reckless and trusting. buyer beware and all that.

can the mods either create an eBay Orgasm subsection or delete this tripe? seriously, how is this thread helpful?

what if you got screwed in an auction you were attending and missed the in between the line stuff. and ended up wasting a bunch of money on a piece of garbage? the people who have done this have saved many a people from making this bad choice, and 1 day it might be you. usually the people who complain about this practice are the ones that are out too screw people over, and they dont wanna be exposed. you totally nailed, i'm a scumbag eBay seller and i don't want exposed. if that's the extent of critical thinking that is present here, then i can see how so many people are suckered on eBay. never mind that old saying about a deal, too good, and true. whatever happened to personal responsibility and educating one's self - the internet is not a shortcut to thinking.

but not wanting to see the same crap endlessly regurgitated here has nothing to do with it, it's because i'm a scumbag eBay seller.

Note the term "usually" I never once said that YOU were in fact one of those sellers, but logic suggest that if you have a problem with info auctions, then there is might be some thing too hide, considering that most of the info auctions are aimed at the bad people, and those will be the ones who are offended.

Easy! Because it prevents things like this from happening......

I care enough for Grandmothers that I never want to see any of them get ripped off. Trusting people DO NOT deserve to be ripped off!

misplaced trust shows a lack of intelligence and personal responsibility. "poor me, i trusted the guy and he ripped me off." never mind you had no clue what you were buying and proceeded with the purchase. no one was holding a gun to grandma's head when she paid, were they?

i have little compassion for a person who trusts an anonymous person. i have none for the person that cries about getting ripped off because they were being greedy.

the thread title gives some clues here... this thread is not about informing people, it's about creating a PARODY AUCTION with a coin graded at MS-72. mocking other auctions does nothing but show that the "seller" is being arrogant. glad that is the purpose of CT - "look at me, i'm crafty and I can outdo the scumbags." aren't you clever.

I'm with asciibaron here. I for one was born with a 181 IQ. I was solving partial differential equations by the age of 5 and by the age of 10 I mastered telekinesis and telepathy.

No one helped me. I never went to some university or took any classes. All of my knowledge was spontaneously created in the Broca's area of my brain.

If I did it all by myself, so can all the other poor suckers browsing eBay. If anyone is to blame, it's Weird Al Yankovic for that silly song he distributed on the radio. Now that was a scam.

    ================

Seriously, it's all about getting the word out. In all honesty, I think such auctions are more ethical than trying to get most questionable auctions yanked.

Information IS the point, by creating a parody you can inform others of what to look out for.

but clearly no one will be able to change your mind.
