Edit: my opinion on the dull coin has nothing to do with you.

How did this dull coin grade in your opinion?

It’s just an opinion. I don’t mind that you disagree. It doesn’t make you wrong. Once we recognize there’s no right or wrong with opinions, we can accept that this grade is also neither right or wrong, it’s simply a subjective assessment of the luster. That’s why I struggle with coins over 65; it’s all subjective.

Maybe the fine folks at PCGS were afraid they'd get another return for an overgraded mistake for which they would have to pay out big money!

Do I hear anything from the...... YOU GUYS SUCK!.jpg

If lack of luster is a criterion for knocking a very clean coin down a notch or two explain why toning isn't treated as a negative as well.

I don't mind we disagree as well. This grading and toning thing we talk about with all these coins is fortunately or unfortunately always subjective.

This coin was submitted a year ago, so the sale of the 1938 S dime had no effect

You’ll have to take that up with the TPGs.

You never know what someone will try when they have paid $300K for a coin. Just ask his lawyer!

Toning doesn't interest me in the least. Makes bad coins look better. Going to glue my mamas 38 proof set to my satilite disk next summer. Sorry @Lehigh96

Kidding of course. Wouldn't do that to mamas coins

Just goes to show that toning carries alot of weight. PCGS missed this one. I can tell. And i was born yesterday. It just goes to show that you members are very good at grading. You can't fool the pros. You members are great. Typecoins. You are making the right choice not sending it in. Cuz the members we trust nailed it.

The coin in the OP looks like a solid 67 FB, however if the luster is broken on Liberty's cheek I can understand the grade of 65
