Can a star note have errors? The one i have has two of the serial numbers are bolder than the rest. Didn't know if that would matter or not.
Yes they can but from what you describe it sounds like over inking on those two numbers and that is common. Best to start you own thread and post photos of both sides stating what you see and your question. Welcome to CT.
First, you should start your own thread for your own question. Posting your question on someone else's thread is considered poor manners. But you're already here and you've already done it. Of course it's possible. Remember a Star note is produced/printed in the same manner as any other note. It's just done for a different purpose : To replace badly printed notes. As a result, the BEP may take more care in trying to make sure no errors are made, but humans are humans. As for your "bolder" serial numbers, that's referred to by some as "thick ink" and probably other names as well. It is an error in a way, but it is so common that it is not valuable at all, unless it really, really stands out. The BEP has tolerances for virtually everything they do, and so long as it is within the specified tolerance, then it's not considered an error. I collect star notes and some other currency, but I am NOT an expert by any definition of the word. However, we do have many currency experts as members here on Coin Talk !!. If you will start your own thread and title it "Star Note Errors" , you will get the attention of those experts.
