BTW, I finally got around to measuring these and most are 6-7 mm, and all of the ones I weighed were 0.36 g.

I believe I read somewhere that the gold content in these varies from 40% to 80%, but considering the good yellowish color of these particular examples, I'd say they're at the higher end of that spectrum, with pretty good gold content.

In any event, there's not much bullion there (or I wouldn't be able to give such things away, right?)

But the price is right, at any rate. Free gold is free gold.

BTW, I normally would not have put a piece of tape on a safety flip like that. It looks kind of dumb. But I thought I'd give it that tiny bit of extra protection. Trust me, you drop one of these little coins, and it's gone.

I once dropped one while visiting in @Aethelred's old apartment. We went through the whole living room with a fine-toothed comb, even turning the couch upside-down and shaking it- all to no avail.

He or his wife eventually found the lost coin, six or more months later, while sweeping out from underneath the fridge in their kitchen... two rooms away from where it was lost!

So obviously, you don't wanna drop that- they are way easy to lose!

Makes me think that running a metal detector down the dirt streets in some older cities in India could be a very interesting proposition, huh?
