I'm right there with you, Frank ! Crack !!! That's what they were smoking and that's what I'd do to the slab.
thanks. all i need is a flowing hair half that looks like that and i can forget about colecting halves and move on with my life
From what I have seen draped bust prices are all over the place. Ebay seems to be going for more than heritage. Of course I do not track on a recurring basis, but when I look I look several places. As far as I am concerned I need 6 more to have the draped bust halves completed 1801,1802, 1803(small 3), 1805, 1805/4 and 1806 inverted 6. It would be nice if they dropped for a year so I could complete them.
Good Luck on the 1802. I agree with some of the others. Crack this bust out and let her re-tone for a few years.
They weren't smoking anything. They likely saw the stacking/cabinet friction/rub on Liberty's face and bust area and graded the coin accordingly. That is often, if not usually the grade-limiting factor for Capped Bust Half Dollars.
I'm not Bone, so please excuse me for addressing a question you posed ot him.... It seems to me that CBH's in 58-63 grades have had quite a run-up in price in the last year or two. A pullback wouldn't surprise me, but I don't follow the series closely enough to say for sure.
wait till i get my next coin if i get that one it will be simply the best in class now thats a truly unique opportunity
