looks like my drought for coins has finally ended. I present to you a beautiful CBH it may not be worth but at least it looks good. ( yes and for people closely following my threads i am sorry about the pagoda and the gilt edged pieces it was a terrible mistake not to buy but you live and learn) let me know what you guys think
That's a beauty Spock. :thumb: Although a historical cleaning is clearly a possibility (LOL, ). The Overton attribution looks to be an O-113 (R-2). At first to be quite honest I was saying that is certainly a LARGE (small 0) in 1830, but then noticed the filled in As (2&3) on the reverse and was quickly able to ID your coin. Wonderful pickup. How long are you going to keep it? Take Care Ben
Thanks Ben. I am glad it meets your approval as the resident CBH expert i am a little confused by what you mean how long i am going to keep it?
no this one has never been cleaned. i know it coz the alien who tokk it in space said he took it straight from the mint to preserve the coin tahn after about 180 yrs he got tired of it so he was looking to sell it so he sold it to a dealer i know.
sure we can trade i like my 1907 high relief $20 in ms 65 or better but for you ill even accept a 64 i now that coin is wasting space in your collection and you would rather have this one
BTW, the reverse die used on your coin was also used in 1829. There is an 1829 (can't recall the variety off the top of my head) which has the top of A2 & A3 filled as well. Neat little bit of trivia. Ben
Sweeeeeet coin Spock! I wonder what the PCGS Graders were smoking when they pegged that coin with an MS-62 grade???!!! Frank
Thx i wonder what would have happened if i got an 112 R4 by chance? i hate bargain bins usually but thats where i am headed to find some CBH who knows anything is possible with people finding rare bills at mac donalds
the more they smoke it the better as long as i can find the coins at a reasonable price i wont complain
When I first saw this, I immediately reached for Overton. I hope my desperate (and late) shot at attribution doesn't seem silly in light of two pages of text I haven't read. O-117. The envelope, please....
...or not. Yep, I'm convinced of Ben's ID of O-113. Filled A's for sure. What do you make of all that luster ? Seems really exceptional for 178 year old silver. Terrific coin, spock ! Congrats !
the luster is very striking for the age! heck, it is striking even for a coin minter today Nice job on this one spock!!!
Photoshop if i said that of someone else's coin i would be hammered but couldnt resist. te guy i bought it from sells quality coins he is the same one who sold me the trade and the SLQ some months ago.
