Recently I started a thread showcasing a 1978-D Ike Dollar with strong machine doubling on the reverse (USA). So I re-checked some of my Morgan and Peace dollars, and low and behold, I found some. This doubling shows in LIBERTY on the Peace Dollars and in USA on the reverse of the Morgans. see UNITED: see AMERICA and part of DOLLAR:
Notice the radial lines near the rim on some of the coins? It looks the dies have seen a lot of use. IMO, I would say it was Die Deterioration Doubling. DDD and MD are caused by different mechanisms. However, in the grand scheme of things, both are considered No Value Doubling, so I don't think it is a big deal if there is a disagreement regarding which type it is.
Thanks. There also appear to be some on the leg feathers. I realize this is a no value condition, As long as it doesn't reduce value I'm OK with it.
