Meow just shared a graded half in another thread, and remembered Meow bought two graded coins at that time to have examples of older coins. Meow was still learning to take pictures of coins at the time, so they are not the best.
But.....This peace dollar is very interesting as it has MANY die cracks in it, so Meow at the time took many pics of it as Meow was worried it was fake. Meow paid $50 for this one too, and it seemed nicer than the grade on the ANACS holder.
It has a interesting grey luster, but still has a cartwheel shine under it.
So there is a pic showing the toning pattern while best avoiding showing its cartwheel luster. So its surface has many layers to it. Its not blast white like the Walker, But it is very pretty.
It seems Meow at the time did not take a wide angle shot of the reverse. But there are pictures to show the few die cracks on the reverse. The obverse has many cracks, the biggest one goes all the way around the crown, and even past it. There are four separate die cracks on the obverse, and two on the reverse.
Three at the crown, one at the neck and date. Reverse is shows short die cracks at the bird, and at the LA in dollar.

A nice looking coin and sweetened by so many Die cracks, however I disagree with the grade. That's not a 65 coin.

Yes, it does seem to have one in the field that stands out. So if we thought of it as a very cold day, then it would just be Liberty's breath we are seeing.

Oh yea, Meow remembers that Meow actually bought three ANACS coins from three different sellers on fleabay at the same time. It was Morgan dollar that was MS64 that Meow thought was undergraded too. Don't think Meow took any pics or any good pics of it. Meow will look for an image and attach it if found.

Oh never mind, Meow just found one terrible picture of it. A very blurry mess. Anyway Meow just wanted to have an example of some older coins so bought a few. Meow figured if Meow bought modest graded ones Meow cherry picked on beauty, it would be nice coins bought reasonably cheap.

Meow recalls that the milkspot was only visible at certain angles. In paw, its not really noticeable. The pics where you see it, Meow was trying to show the coins luster as much as possible. In the pic where Meow wanted to show its toning pattern, it does not show at all.

Well thats to bad. Its still very pretty. So you think Meow overpaid for it with $50?

So is the forum all done with the feline hate? Or is it still there, but Meow cant see it because in last week Meow put about six members on ignore? Its just odd how a big wave of feline hate hit Meow all of a sudden. Meow thought Meow was accepted by members here, or at least tolerated.
But Meow would like to thank all the members here that have always shown kindness and acceptance to Meow.

Your photos need more light. I can barely see your coin in the whole coin shots.

As kitty admits, these are old photos and Meow's skills have grown. If you really want opinions you'll need to unhoard them at least long enough to take good pics.

    Thoughts...

Die cracks on Peace Dollars aren't unusual - the mint was grinding out coins for several years to recoin the Pittman silver and the British lend-lease. Quantity over quality is something a hoarding cat can understand, right? But it's definitely fun to see them all and play the thought game of "how many MORE coins could be struck before the die exploded"

ANACS yellow is an interesting beast. When they bought it from Anderson Press (blue), there was a concerted effort to improve the quality of the grading. The problem is once you've trashed your reputation, it's hard to gain it back. They've waxed and waned over the years since with how strict they are.

I personally love the old ANACS and also the variety of holders and labels over the years. But I'm weird.

1923 Peace, with 30m mintage isn't rare, so a milk spot is going be a bigger hit than on a rarer coin. For me, the question is why it appeared and I can't figure anything other than dipped and improperly neutralized. If that's the case - and I'm not the expert - it needs to be cracked out and conserved, but it might not end up with the same grade, esp. if the spot is now permanent.

Meow could have done it better, but that's not an arm break. The coin is still nice:)

Meow has a pawful of small white ANACS holders with nickels from the late 40s that say 5 or 5.5 steps on them.
